AIDN in the thick of CDIC planning
As the peak Defence industry body for Australian defence SMEs, AIDN welcomes the announcement by the Prime Minister for the headquartering of the Centre for Defence Industry Capability (CDIC). Alan Rankins, National AIDN President has been closely working with senior Defence officials to progress defence SME involvement in the CDIC.
“AIDN looks forward to key roles in the new CDIC, including board representation if thought appropriate by the Commonwealth. In our role as the defence SME representative we have assured Defence and the Federal Government of our complete support for this new era of industry liaison and the recognition of SMEs in this fundamental input to capability. We are very keen to assist in ensuring our SME members are fully represented with a national focus in achieving Defence objectives. AIDN will continue its program of meeting with Defence Ministers, Opposition spokespersons and Defence officials, working towards a strong industry/defence relationship. We will also continue our work with the AIG Defence Council and the ABL Defence Industry Unit to ensure a strong synergy in industry messaging” said Mr Rankins.
As ably stated in a recent press release by the national representative of the Australia Made Defence Campaign, Mr Chris Burns, (also AIDN SA President), “these strategies will help our nation towards building strong capabilities to make us globally competitive.” AIDN will fully support the government to ensure a rapid and informed establishment of the CDIC. AIDN’s role is to provide its members nationally with the detail of the CDIC and industry engagement as they unfold. AIDN will continue to work closely with Defence to ensure this occurs.
