Australian Defence Force (ADF) reservists and their civilian employers across Australia have been recognised for their contribution to Defence capability through the 2023 Prince of Wales Awards scheme. The awards are given to ADF reservists, with winners receiving up to $8,000 to undertake training and develop new skills beneficial in their civilian career.
Chief of Joint Capabilities, Lieutenant General Frewen said the annual awards acknowledged the continued support of employers, providing ADF reservists working in their organisation with the opportunity to up-skill in an area of choice. “We have more than 31,000 reservists who are supported by their civilian employers whom contribute vital skills and capability to the defence of our Nation,” said Lieutenant General Frewen. “Reservists are a critical capability for our Nation and their contribution to national security cannot be underestimated. The Prince of Wales Awards recognises the dedication of our ADF reservists and the valued support they receive from their civilian employers. I congratulate the Navy, Army and Air Force reservists who will have the opportunity to develop new skills and undertake additional training.”
Defence provides direct support to ADF reservists and their civilian employers through the Employer Support Payment Scheme and a range of engagement programs and activities. “Winners will be presented with their awards at regional events in 2023, I highly recommend all reservists consider this opportunity for themselves and their employer in future,” Frewen said.
