Aerobond has officially passed First Article Inspection (FAI) and is now ready to commence full-scale manufacturing of key components for the KONGSBERG Naval Strike Missile (NSM) launcher. This marks a major milestone in the delivery of sovereign defence capability for Australia.
Justin Struik, Managing Director of Aerobond, acknowledged the achievement as a significant step forward in the company’s defence manufacturing journey: “It is fantastic to see this critical milestone reached, 18 months after Aerobond moved into our new facility in Woodville, and 20 months after we were awarded the contract to manufacture components for the Naval Strike Missile launcher canister production. We are incredibly proud of the team for their responsiveness and the quality of workmanship throughout the process.”
Successfully passing KONGSBERG’s rigorous FAI requirements demonstrates that Aerobond’s production processes and components meet all stringent quality and technical requirements. This paves the way for serial production of launcher canister to support KONGSBERG’s Naval Strike Missile program.
“The launcher canister will be manufactured in Australia,” Struik added, “demonstrating KONGSBERG’s strong commitment to maximising local content and strengthening domestic manufacturing capability.”
Aerobond’s work on the NSM program is a key part of Australia’s drive to enhance sovereign industrial capability, with its Woodville facility at the centre of advanced, precision manufacturing for mission-critical defence applications.

Well done Aerobond and Kongsberg. The NSM program seems to be coming along nicely and at a good pace, this is an excellent example of what Europe can offer in the way of building Australian industry involvement towards Sovereignty ( unlike projects with the U.S.) .Why Albanese is dragging his feet in accepting a Defence Partnership with the EU is a Mystery.
