This issue covers:
- Defeating enemy drones – LAND 156 update.
Recent conflicts are demonstrating the importance of drones in warfare – and against these threats, Australia is developing countermeasures for protecting lives and assets. This is a multiphase project with a current budget of $1.3 billion, focusing on local technologies.
- Medium range ground based air defence.
This is a new investment of up to $10 billion to supply Army with a system able to destroy ballistic and cruise missiles as well as aircraft and hypersonic threats. An important requirement is speed to capability and Defence is conducting an international search of potential suppliers.
- Modernising army C4 systems – LAND 4140.
Boeing Defence Australia has been selected as the prime system integrator for an initial five year period. The search is now on for suppliers able to provide inputs for C2; situational awareness; geospatial and navigational data; and targeting information.
- Army armoured vehicle update.
Army is recapitalising its armoured vehicles with new Boxer CRVs; Redback IFVs; Huntsman SPH, Abrams M1A2 MBTs and upgraded Bushmaster and Hawkei fleets. We look at how deliveries are progressing and the Australian supply chains to support this new fleet.
