Babcock Australasia (Babcock) has launched its graduate program, with positions available across a wide range of fields in the aviation and defence sectors including engineering, project management, finance, human resources and IT. During the two-year program participants will apply their technical skills and training in a practical environment, alongside an established team of industry professionals. Positions are available for those who have studied Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, Project Management, Business, Marketing, Commerce, HR and Software.
Babcock Executive Director Engineering & Technology Brad Yelland said Babcock was investing in the region’s future workforce by supporting emerging talent in science, technology and engineering. “We are focused on providing Future Talent pathways for graduates, work experience students, interns and apprentices through our Early Careers programs. We’re looking to the future of our operations and by nurturing budding talent we’ll be exposed to new techniques that will support our planning. While we’re recognised as one of Australia’s leading aviation and defence businesses, due to the breadth of work we undertake the opportunities available aren’t limited to STEM graduates. Graduate roles will integrate with departments across Babcock including Engineering, Human Resources, Finance and Strategy.
“Graduates are currently entering one of the most competitive job markets in history. In order to be recognised for their study and hard work, they need to have access to competitive entry-level opportunities,” Yelland said. “Our program allows for graduates to be mentored by industry experts and leads to true career outcomes. Upon completion, participants will remain employed with Babcock. Recruiting new talent is important for not only broadening our resource pool, it also expands diversity of thought within our business to inspire and reflect the communities in which we operate.”
The graduate program will commence in November 2022 with roles based in Adelaide, Sydney, Perth and Auckland. In conjunction with the graduate program, Babcock offers a 13-week paid internship program concluding in February 2023. Due to the competitive entry to the graduate program, an internship provides a springboard whereby participants will be considered for the 2023 intake of the program. Babcock also offer work experience for primary and secondary school students including short-term placements, STEM activities within the school/community, and mentoring/support at the tertiary education level.
