Boresight has secured its largest single order from a North American military customer, with a US$383,275 (approximately A$532,000) purchase order that is about three times the value of the customer’s previous order and expands the engagement into operator training. The repeat order covers more than 340 of Boresight’s BQ-400 swarming-capable aerial target drones, multiple proprietary Ground Control Stations and an Operator Training Course, extending the relationship beyond the supply of drone hardware. The equipment will be used to support the training of US military personnel in counter-drone warfare, where Boresight’s target drones are designed to replicate drone threats for realistic and repeatable training and testing.
The scale of the purchase is significant for Boresight because it comes from an existing military customer rather than a new account. The company said the larger order reflected increased use of aerial targets, growing confidence in its capability and a broader engagement following the addition of operator training. The purchase order was received through Boresight’s US reseller, Mountain Horse Solutions, which provides the contracting mechanism enabling sales to US military end-customers. The end customer is described by Boresight as a leading military training element.
Boresight Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Justin Olde said: “This repeat order is testament to the ongoing effectiveness of Boresight’s aerial target drones in providing cost-effective, reliable and repeatable mission counter drone training. We have a number of North American military customers however this particular client is a standard setting, training focused organisation that has broad influence over their entire military. They’ve looked at the available options and they keep coming back to Boresight. The ability to service this and other North American customers directly from our US facility means that our delivery lead times and costs are reduced, providing more responsiveness whilst driving down overheads. Support for this delivery will be provided from our Australian HQ where required, while we continue to ramp up operations at our expanded US facility.”
The order will also be produced in the United States, with manufacturing to take place at Boresight’s new, larger US facility. The company said the facility allows it to supply American-made products to military customers, an important consideration in military procurement, while reducing delivery lead times and costs for North American customers.
Production of the order is set to begin with staged deliveries through to the end of the second quarter of FY27. Delivery and payment are expected in Q2 FY27.
