$899.0 – $1499.0Maritime Information Warfare 2019
SMi’s Maritime Information Warfare conference is returning to London on 18 – 19 November 2019 for its 3rd year, with the aim of exploring how information warfare can be maximised and managed for the modern navy.
The two-day event will focus on the strategies, systems and new technologies set to increase information warfare capabilities, as well as the challenges associated with engaging in information warfare. Gaining operational effectiveness via “information advantage” is vital to the abilities of any Navy, as rapid technological advances change the way maritime forces utilise and manage information.
Key topics set to be discussed at this year’s event include: AI, Information Exploitation and Big Data, Cyber Security and Defence, C4ISR and much more. The focus will be on these key themes, as well as building on the Royal Navy’s Information Warrior exercises, and the latest developments and novel approaches in the sector, as we look at how both military and industry can utilise these capabilities to improve operations.
Major navies such as the UK and US have already established significant cyber divisions, for example the US’s dedicated 10th fleet, which goes to show how navies are recognising the need to prioritise ‘Information Warfare’ in order to maintain strength in the maritime sphere.
Highlights include:
• Keynote Briefing from Commodore Ian Annett, Assistant Chief of Staff Information Warfare and Chief Information Officer, Royal Navy, on the Future of Royal Navy Developments and Capabilities
• Updates on Maritime Systems and Platforms across NATO and how they are improving Data Exploitation
• Emphasis on Cyber Warfare, and the importance of more effective Cyber Defence as the maritime sphere becomes more information technology-centric
• Focus on Artificial Intelligence, in particular how a mixture of automation, machine learning, and unmanned systems are being developed
