Nova Systems’ latest graduate intake has tipped the number of new staff joining the company’s specially designed program to over 100 since it started in 2016. Another 34 graduates have joined the company’s award-winning program nationally with new starters set to rotate work placements across varied markets in the business ranging from defence to emergency services and our growing space projects. Graduates come from diverse backgrounds in Integrated Logistics Support, Engineering, Project Management and Finance.
Nova Systems Chief Executive Officer Jim McDowell welcomed the graduates, emphasising the importance of engaging bright young people in the global engineering services and technology solutions company. “To ensure Australia has the skills we need for the future, we have to invest, develop and nurture the brightest minds of graduates today,” McDowell said. “The Nova Systems graduates keep us on our toes as they see things differently and challenge our way of thinking. We embrace the opportunity to teach and mentor as much as we embrace the opportunity to be challenged ourselves”.
Nova Systems has 12 graduates starting in Canberra, 15 in Melbourne, three in Brisbane and four in Adelaide, bringing the total graduate intake this year to 34. This year’s cohort includes Electrical and Aerospace Engineering graduate Gabriel Simpson in Canberra who also studied Mechanical Engineering and Astrophysics. “I have high hopes of working my way towards helping develop Australia’s space capabilities,” he says.
Mustapha Chahine has started in the Adelaide office after working as an Aerospace Intern in The Resilient Flight Control program at Defence Science and Technology. And Jayden Stevens has returned to Nova Systems in Adelaide after completing work experience in the business during 2019 and 2020. He is a Mechanical Engineering and Finance graduate with a background in farming and the wine industry.
The Nova Systems Graduate Program was recently recognised as one of the Fast Movers in GradAustralia’s Top 100 Graduate Employers of 2022.
