Day to Day
Our team coordinates the delivery and operation of hundreds of thousands of hardware and software systems across multiple availability zones. We bring AWS regions to life, then keep them operating reliably for the customers who depend on them, including government agencies, hospitals, banks, research institutions, and the defence and intelligence community, to name a few. The work is constant, detailed, and consequential. There is an expectation that everything operates securely and efficiently, and our team makes that happen daily. Something we call operational excellence.
The Dual Mandate
Part of what we do involves operating cloud environments for sensitive national workloads. That requires combining deep security expertise with cloud engineering, architecting systems that meet stringent requirements while still advancing what the technology can do. Precision and creativity. Discipline and invention. Not everyone thrives in that tension. The people who do tend to find it hard to leave.
Why AI Makes This Work More Urgent
AI is reshaping the demands placed on data centre infrastructure. Every model trained, every inference served, every query answered, every intelligent application deployed requires physical compute, storage, networking, and power underneath it. The rapid adoption of AI has accelerated this, requiring larger neural networks, more hardware, more advanced compute architecture and efficient cooling and networking infrastructure.
Sixty-one per cent of Australian businesses have now adopted AI, up from fifty per cent a year ago, and that demand lands directly on the infrastructure we build and run. We are growing our team across Australia to meet it.
The People
The people who do well here share a few things in common: resilience, curiosity, and the ability to work through ambiguity without waiting for a playbook. Many come from outside technology. Engineering, defence, construction, operations. What they share is not a specific qualification but a willingness to work through problems methodically and figure things out.
It takes all kinds of backgrounds to run systems at this scale. Some studied at university, others learned through service, through apprenticeships, through years of hands-on work in demanding environments. All paths matter equally here. We solve complex customer and industry challenges together, often for the first time, even after more than a decade of operating in Australia. The skills you build here are sought after internationally, and they compound over a career.
