Moog Australia, a wholly owned Australian subsidiary of Moog Inc, has officially broken ground on expansion of its new Melbourne facility. The multi-phase investment plan, set to take place over the next five years, aims at strengthening Moog’s Australian in-country capability. Moog has operated in Australia for more than 40 years.
The initial phase will comprise a significant expansion in a secure space that supports the three defence domains of air, land and sea. Phase one; will be completed in March 2021. This expansion is the result of significant growth and the strategic realignment of Moog Australia to focus on defence. The new facility will have the capacity to house 40 additional engineering, technical and support resources and develop local capabilities to design, build, and support through-life defence systems and solutions.
“This new facility will accommodate our expected future growth over the next three years. The secure facility will be dedicated to continued support of the defence and aerospace markets, providing the foundation to develop and deliver localised intellectual property and production of advanced systems and products across the air, land, and sea domains in the Australia and Asia-Pacific Region,” said Bryan O’Connor, managing director, Moog Australia.
This investment signifies Moog’s continued commitment to providing Australian sovereign capability and local jobs focusing on defence manufacturing and sustainment capability in support of Australian Defence Force (ADF) Platforms and Systems. This expansion also enhances Moog Australia’s position for expansion into the Asia-Pacific region, supporting the Australian government’s defence export strategy of increasing global export.
