New defence industry leader forges closer ties between industry and Defence
South Australia’s peak defence industry body has announced it’s newly appointed CEO in
a move that will foster closer cooperation between industry and Defence, and heralds a
strong new era for the defence industry.
New CEO Margot Forster will be instrumental in building stronger ties between industry
and Defence, and will make sure the industry develops a deeper understanding of the
strategic requirements of the Defence Force.
Ms Forster, a distinguished member of the Australian Defence Force, said she is delighted
to take on the position and is looking forward to leading South Australia’s peak defence
body when she assumes the role in December.
“This is a crucial time for Australia’s defence industry and I look forward to forging closer
ties between the Australian Defence Force and industry that will lead to better outcomes
for the defence sector,” said Ms Forster.
“Making sure the Defence Force has the capabilities it requires to protect our national
security and sovereignty is at the heart of what our defence industry does – and it’s
something I am passionate about. By developing closer ties with the ADF we will be in the
strongest position to deliver the very best capabilities.
“The best way to deliver strong capabilities for Defence is by making sure industry and
defence are collaborating and cooperating to a much greater extent than we have seen in
the past.
“The Defence White Paper detailed a number of significant programs for Australia over the
next decade. It’s critical that Australia’s defence industry establishes closer ties with the
defence force over the coming years in order to deliver on projects across land, air and
maritime.
“I look forward to further strengthening the position of the Defence Teaming Centre and its
members in South Australia, and to seeing the considerable benefits that closer
collaboration between industry and the ADF can bring,” said Ms Forster.
