DroneShield releases Q4 2026 software update

DroneShield announced its Q4 2026 software release that the company says introduces enhancements across detection, identification, tracking and defeat. These include sensing unfamiliar drone signals, identifying threats with greater confidence and coordinating a more targeted response. Software-based updates enable customers to gain greater capability from compatible equipment already in operation, without the need to invest in new hardware. The release is available to customers through DroneShield’s Mission Ready Services subscription, which delivers ongoing capability improvements across more than 4,200 software-enabled devices in the field. The company said its RfRecon now sends signals that behave like drones, but are not yet in DroneShield’s threat library, straight to the DroneSentry-C2 dashboard. Operators can investigate emerging threats sooner and filter records by frequency range to focus their analysis. The company said the software also issues fewer false alarms and fewer missed targets, improves thermal camera classification accuracy by 44% and improves fixed-wing drone identification by 18% in precision and 8% in recall. Target detection in standard video is also improved the company said with camera tracking from passive, layered detection. The company also said RF sensing and optical cameras now work together as a fully passive detection solution, so operators can visually confirm drone detections without radar or any emissions that reveal their position. With compatible Bosch Starlight cameras, operators can direct the camera to search along the direction of an RF detection, then lock on and track the drone. When a DroneSentry-X Mk2 detects a threat, the detection is shared across connected DroneSentry-X Mk2 units, enabling a coordinated disruption effect against the target. Jamming is focused on the frequencies that the specific drone is able to use, which concentrates effect on the target and reduces interference with nearby systems. “Drone threats change constantly, and counter-drone capability has to keep pace long after it is deployed,” said Angus Bean, Chief Executive Officer of DroneShield. “Through Mission Ready Services, this release gives operators better information and a more focused response, delivered as an update to systems already in the field.” For Editorial Inquiries Contact: Editor Kym Bergmann at [email protected] For Advertising Inquiries Contact: Group Sales Director Simon Hadfield at [email protected]
