Final 3 Bluebottle USVs christened at Ocius Technology

On Friday 18th of June, the last three Bluebottle USVs in the current set of five were christened at the Ocius factory on the UNSW Randwick Campus. RADM Pete Quinn, Senator Holly Hughes standing in for Hon Melissa Price and longtime Ulladulla shareholder Michelle Moulos christened the boats. BLUEY – RADM Pete Quinn BRIZO (Greek Goddess of Mariners) – Ulladula Shareholder Michelle Moulos BEACON – Senator Holly Hughes Following their christening, BONNIE and BLUEY will join BETH in Darwin and then BRIZO and BEACON will join the squad in August. From September there will be five Bluebottles operating. It is expected to be an intense and exciting six months. Early next year they will join BOB, the first Bluebottle, in Fremantle to demonstrate ASW with Thales off HMAS Stirling. What makes a Bluebottle unique is covered by seven patents in multiple countries and 2 registered designs in Australia and the USA. Australia is world renowned for having great naval architects, boat builders and sailors. The Ocius business plan is simple. To demonstrate that Bluebottle can fill the ‘gap’ between a manned ship and no current alternative and do a great job filling that ‘gap’ with a capability that our competitors can’t match and then export to the SW Pacific, Indian Ocean and our allies around the world.
