Fokker, Netherlands open new NH90 facility

The Royal Netherlands Air & Space Force and Fokker Services Group (FSG) officially opened the Fellowship hangar at Business Park Aviolanda. At the new facility, personnel from the Air Support Command’s 980 Squadron and FSG work together to maintain NH90 maritime combat helicopters, supporting the fleet’s availability and operational readiness. The Fellowship complex comprises four new helicopter maintenance bays and a multifunctional campus building. The Air & Space Force will use three bays and the campus building for NH90 maintenance alongside partners including FSG. Bringing military and civilian expertise together at one location strengthens maintenance support for the fleet and helps retain specialist technical knowledge in the Netherlands. “Our partnership with the Royal Netherlands Air & Space Force is built on the people who work together on the NH90 every day. Our technicians and their military colleagues each bring valuable knowledge and experience to that work. The Fellowship hangar gives them a modern environment to continue supporting the fleet and developing the expertise it depends on,” said Roland van Dijk, CEO of Fokker Services Group. “The opening of the Fellowship hangar is a tangible milestone in our long standing partnership with Fokker Services Group. By co locating the Air Support Command’s NH90 maintenance team with their civilian experts, we combine military precision with industry know how, accelerating turnaround times, preserving critical technical expertise in the Netherlands, and ensuring the fleet’s highest possible availability for today’s missions and tomorrow’s challenges,” said Commodore Cengiz Sahan, Commander Air Support Command. The Royal Netherlands Air & Space Force and FSG were already jointly maintaining NH90 helicopters at Business Park Aviolanda, adjacent to Woensdrecht Air Base, before the Fellowship hangar was built. The new facility provides a dedicated home for this existing partnership. Construction officially began on June 24, 2025. Contractor BRISCK completed the hangar earlier this year. Over the following months, the facility was prepared for use and the helicopters and maintenance equipment were moved to the new location. Personnel from the Air & Space Force and FSG attended the official opening alongside representatives of the Province of North Brabant and the Municipality of Woensdrecht. Named after the Fokker F28 Fellowship aircraft, the hangar reflects the close working relationship between the Royal Netherlands Air & Space Force and Fokker Services Group. Both organizations are partners within Hive Aerospace Collective, where military and industry partners collaborate on aircraft and helicopter maintenance, repair and modification. The Fellowship hangar puts that collaboration into practice through their daily work on the NH90.
