XReality Group announced that its wholly owned U.S. subsidiary Operator XR has secured its first order from the United States Marine Corps (USMC), supplying OP-2 Interceptor counter-small unmanned aircraft systems (C-sUAS) training systems. The order is also the first sale of OP-2 Interceptor, and represents a strategically important entry into both the Marine Corps and the counter-drone training market. The order delivers OP-2 Interceptor systems configured for the end-user’s counter-drone training requirements, including software licences, integrated training hardware and software support and updates. The win marks Operator XR’s first sale to the Marine Corps and the first sale of a counter-drone training product by the Company, complementing its existing U.S. military customers, including US Air Force, US Space Force, and US Army National Guard. Small drones have become one of the most prevalent threats to ground forces in recent conflicts, and the U.S. military is moving to make counter-drone skills a capability held across the force rather than by specialist teams alone. In August 2025, the U.S. Secretary of Defense directed the establishment of Joint Interagency Task Force 401 to accelerate the delivery of counter-small UAS capability across the Department. Within the Marine Corps, dismounted counter-drone equipment is being fielded to operational units, and in July 2026 the Marine Corps introduced its first counter-small UAS training lanes into its Service Level Training Exercise program at Twentynine Palms. As equipment reaches units, the requirement for repeatable training that does not depend on live drones, airspace approvals or range availability is growing. OP-2 Interceptor is Operator XR’s counter-drone training system, built on the OP-2 portable virtual reality training platform. It allows single or multiple users to develop and rehearse counter-UAS tactics, techniques and procedures at a fraction of the cost of live-fire training. Trainees engage a configurable library of drone threats, including armed first-person-view (FPV), surveillance and reconnaissance drones, using realistic counter-drone weapons such as shotguns and AR-platform rifles. Instructors can plan enemy drone routes, set attack profiles and adjust drone behaviour in real time, then review each engagement from multiple viewpoints with objective data on shot accuracy, weapon angles and field of view. The system sets up in quickly, operates fully offline and requires no fixed facilities. Contract Summary: Order for OP-2 Interceptor systems, including software licences, integrated training hardware and 12 months of support services. System scheduled for delivery in Q2 FY27. The contract value is not material to XRG. XRG CEO Wayne Jones said: “Securing our first order from the U.S. Marine Corps is a significant milestone for Operator XR, and it is fitting that it comes with the first sale of OP-2 Interceptor. This order follows a sustained period of demonstrating and evaluating Interceptor with Marines across numerous units, and their feedback has shaped the product. Counter-UAS training is now a priority across the U.S. military, and this order gives us a Marine Corps reference customer as we take Interceptor to other services and allied forces.” For Editorial Inquiries Contact: Editor Kym Bergmann at [email protected] For Advertising Inquiries Contact: Group Sales Director Simon Hadfield at [email protected]
