RYAN AEROSPACE has unveiled its T-6 Texan II Mixed Reality Immersive Training Device (ITD), a lower-cost trainer. The device pairs a physical, full-scale T-6 cockpit with the Varjo XR-4 mixed reality headset. Students touch and operate real controls while flying in a fully rendered virtual world, so procedures, flows and muscle memory carry straight across to the aircraft. The T-6 Texan II ITD will be shown publicly for the first time at I/ITSEC, the world’s largest modelling, simulation and training conference, in Orlando, Florida, from 30 November to 3 December 2026, on booth #939. The T-6 Texan II ITD is built on RYAN AEROSPACE’s ITD Gen 2 common platform, already developed and tested across the company’s military training devices. It includes: T-6 side panel pods with throttle / Power Control Lever (PCL), fitted with genuine Otto buttons and switches A replica joystick grip with genuine Otto buttons and switches A Main Instrument Panel (MIP) with working multi-purpose displays (MPDs), realistic tactile button feel, a landing gear handle and a range of switch panels An electrically adjustable ejection-style seat and electrically adjustable, control-loaded rudder pedals A control-loaded joystick, with an integrated PC housed in a cooled rack beneath the seat The Varjo XR-4 mixed reality headset, blending the physical cockpit with the virtual environment Like all RYAN AEROSPACE training devices, the T-6 Texan II hardware is software agnostic. It can integrate with virtually any flight model or simulation software platform. At I/ITSEC, it will be demonstrated running a high-fidelity flight model and simulation host. RYAN AEROSPACE has supplied T-6 and T-38 training devices to the US Air Force and US Navy, including for the Pilot Training Transformation (PTT), Project Avenger and Aviator Training Next (ATN) programs. “Military customers need to train more pilots, faster and more cost-effectively,” said Chris Ryan, CEO of RYAN AEROSPACE.” The T-6 Texan II ITD gives students the real controls they will use in the aircraft, in a device that costs a fraction of what traditional simulators cost. Building on our proven Gen 2 Immersive Training Device platform means customers get mature, tested hardware from day one.” For Editorial Inquiries Contact: Editor Kym Bergmann at [email protected] For Advertising Inquiries Contact: Group Sales Director Simon Hadfield at [email protected]
