Saab Australia (Saab) has signed a five-year contract extension with Australia for sustainment of Defence’s deployable health capability. Following its successful delivery of Joint Project 2060 Phase 3 (JP2060-3), the contract will see sustainment of the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) deployable health capability extended over a further five years from 2028 – providing end-to-end systems support and ensuring its continued operational readiness for rapid deployment.
As the prime systems integrator for the ADF’s JP2060-3 deployable health capability, Saab has integrated and delivered thousands of complex components and systems to provide more than 550 deployable medical modules for use in humanitarian missions and conflict zones.
The rapidly deployable, modular and scalable healthcare capabilities enhance Australia’s preparedness and responsiveness, delivering a continuum of care from primary treatment through to surgery, advanced imaging, trauma care and intensive care. Fundamental to its operational readiness is Saab’s purpose-built state-of-the-art Deployable Health Capability Support Centre (DHCSC) in Bundamba, Queensland. Fully integrated into the defence logistics system, the DHCSC is critical in supporting deployment and ongoing sustainment of the capability, ensuring appropriate and effective storage, maintenance and rapid deployment of the deployable health modules.
Saab Australia Managing Director Andy Keough CSC said that the contract extension reflects the strength of Saab’s close collaboration with defence and industry to ensure the delivery and seamless integration of world-class deployable health capability. “Saab’s ongoing sustainment of this lifesaving capability will ensure the ADF is equipped with advanced solutions that deliver high quality care in Australia and overseas,” said Keough.
