Arkeus is an Australian defence technology company specialising in autonomous optical systems. Its optical surveillance systems operate across air, land, sea and space domains – specialising in extracting critical intelligence and surveillance information and disseminating that data in challenging or contested environments.
Arkeus is pleased to announce it has secured a $2.46 million grant under the Australian Government’s Industry Growth Program (IGP). Under the grant agreement, Arkeus, and its Australian based investors, will be matching this investment, resulting in a $5.5m investment in scaling Arkeus Australian based manufacturing capability. IGP is designed to support Australian small and medium enterprises while undertaking innovative commercialisation projects. Preceding the monetary grant, the IGP connected Arkeus with an advisor to provide specialised advice on Arkeus’ commercialisation plan.
Simon Olsen, CEO and co-founder of Arkeus, said “The IGP Grant follows on from investments Arkeus has been making over the past 12 months in the domestic capacity and component redundancies across our Australian supply chain. The $5.5 million in funding significantly increases our capacity to support not just the Australian Defence Force, but also our global customers. We are not waiting to scale – we are scaling now.”
Arkeus will be using the grant to accelerate the company’s capability to build systems to meet the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) requirements, as well as growing export markets. Arkeus is already a trusted partner of the ADF, with the IGP grant coming after numerous successful contracts with the Australian Army, Royal Australian Navy and the Royal Australian Air Force. “Arkeus is a partner who understands the operational need, can deliver it now, and is already scaling our Australian-based supply chain to support our customers into the future. We are laser-focused on getting capability into the field – rapidly,” said Olsen.
Arkeus’ technology is world-leading, allowing observation, tracking and decision-making to occur at a speed never seen before. Arkeus’ Hyperspectral Optical Radar (HSOR) brings the depth of environmental awareness typical of hyperspectral technology to the tactical edge, with Arkeus’ “ARK” AI enhancing decision-making by delivering relevant information more efficiently and effectively. HSOR uses edge-based data analyses to enable collection and reporting to occur autonomously, without the need to send sensitive data through contested environments.
As the Australian Government increases its defence spending over the next 10 years to deal with the dramatically changing security environment, Arkeus is ready to step up and provide innovative sovereign capabilities for the ADF.
