Hanwha Aerospace hosted a delegation of senior U.S. defence officials led by Admiral Harry Harris at its headquarters for a dialogue on ROK-U.S. defence cooperation. The event, held at Hanwha Building in Jangyo-dong, Seoul, was attended by Hanwha Aerospace President Suh Wook, former Minister of National Defense, along with senior executives from Hanwha Systems and Hanwha Ocean. The U.S. delegation included Admiral Harris and twenty one generals and flag officers from the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps, as well as senior officials from the Defense Intelligence Agency.
Executives from Hanwha’s three defence affiliates presented the group’s global defence operations, vision, and key weapons systems capabilities, and outlined how they can contribute to the ROK-U.S. alliance across the land, air, and maritime domains.
The U.S. delegation expressed strong interest in Hanwha’s defence systems capabilities. Both sides agreed that defence industrial capacity is playing an increasingly central role in the ROK-U.S. alliance, and held in-depth discussions on future areas of cooperation.
A Hanwha Aerospace representative said, “The ROK-U.S. alliance is the foundation of Hanwha’s defence business. We are committed to building a framework for mutual growth in both countries’ defence industries through investment, production, and technology cooperation in the United States.” The representative added, “We will use this dialogue as a springboard to strengthen trust between senior leaders on both sides and actively pursue concrete areas of cooperation.”
