Thales Australia has now completed a new left-hand drive variant of the Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicle, continuing the evolution of this iconic, Australian designed and built vehicle. Manufactured in Bendigo, Victoria, the new variant marks another milestone in the Bushmaster’s history as a trusted platform for operations worldwide.
The left-hand drive Bushmaster is a testament to Australian engineering and innovation, now tailored to meet the needs of European partners. Its design ensures the vehicle is fully compatible with European roads, crews and mission requirements, making it a versatile and reliable option for allied forces operating abroad. With each new variant, the vehicle strengthens the local supply chain and showcases Australia’s expertise in producing world class defence systems.
Mitch O’Dwyer, VP Strategy and Sales, Thales Australia and NZ, said: “The Bushmaster has a proud legacy of protecting personnel in conflict zones around the world. The vehicle continues to evolve with variants such as the StrikeMaster demonstrating how the platform can be adapted to new mission requirements while retaining the protection, mobility and reliability it is known for. The introduction of a left-hand drive Bushmaster reflects our strong export focus and our ability to adapt the platform to meet the operational needs of international customers, with a focus on innovation, regional jobs and sovereign manufacturing. The vehicle’s ongoing development underscores its enduring relevance and Australia’s ability to deliver world-class protected mobility solutions. Beyond capability, the Bushmaster supports hundreds of skilled Australian jobs and sustains a vital defence manufacturing ecosystem in regional Victoria and across the country.”

Good idea, but which country will buy it? We are too far away from europe; they produce many types for themselves and a wheeled truck is not much use in the jungles of asia.
It was pretty good in the desert; no trees.
Australia’s dilema! Were are we going to fight next. Not the desert again, not in asia again.
Hopefully never in our own land…
ANYWHERE in the arc from Scherger to Learmonth.
Getting the invasion fleet to the beach is the ‘easy’ bit, fighting all the way to the east coast, over 3000 kms of sand and rocks, , is a lot harder.
The main sport will be killing supply TRUCKS, not Generals and Privates.
Kill the trucks and the privates, and armour, are going nowhere.
