KeyOptions has been awarded a contract for the development and delivery of advanced counter-uncrewed aerial vehicle (CUAV) technology under Project LAND 156. This contract underscores KeyOptions’ role in bolstering Australia’s national security and advancing sovereign defence capabilities.
Project LAND 156, a critical initiative to counter the growing threat of small uncrewed aerial systems (UAS), aims to deliver cutting-edge solutions to protect Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel and assets. KeyOptions’ selection as a supplier reflects its expertise in delivering innovative, adaptable, and effective CUAV systems tailored to meet the evolving challenges posed by drones.

The contract, part of a $16.9 million initial wave of awards announced by the government, includes KeyOptions among a select group of Australian and international firms tasked with rapidly deploying counter-drone technologies. KeyOptions’ contribution will focus on advanced detection and neutralisation systems; including sensor capabilities and effectors, ensure comprehensive protection against small UAS threats.
The company’s solutions are designed to counter the rapid evolution of drone technology, as demonstrated in modern conflicts such as Ukraine, where small drones have proven highly effective.
This award not only strengthens KeyOptions’ position in the defence sector but also reinforces Australia’s commitment to fostering a sovereign defence industry. The company’s work under LAND 156 is expected to drive technological development, aligning with the government’s vision to enhance promotion of SME’s expertise.
Minister for Defence Industry, Pat Conroy, highlighted the importance of the project. “The delivery of cutting-edge counter-drone technology shows the increasing speed at which Defence and industry are able to deliver new capabilities to the ADF,” he said. “Australian industry is critical to delivering this technology, and they are demonstrating world-leading innovation while creating Australian jobs.”
KeyOptions is poised to deliver a baseline CUAV capability by December 2025. The company looks forward to collaborating with the Department of Defence and industry partners to ensure the success of this part of Project LAND 156 and to protect Australia’s national security in an increasingly complex global environment.
