In a tense geopolitical climate, ongoing conflicts from Nagorno-Karabakh to Ukraine are highlighting the growing importance of unmanned systems on modern battlefields. While countries like Ukraine have already extensively integrated unmanned systems on land, in the air, and at sea into their armed forces, this development is only just beginning in Germany, Europe, and NATO.
In response to this emerging trend, the European drone leader Quantum Systems, along with ARX Robotics and other partners, has decided to establish an alliance for companies specialising in unmanned systems across all domains. A key component, currently under development, will be a software framework that connects all unmanned systems, regardless of the manufacturer.
The UXS Alliance aims to pool European expertise and position itself as a key player in securing NATO’s eastern flank and ensuring European security. Operating under the slogan “UXS Alliance: Leaders of the Unmanned Future,” the alliance will be headquartered in Berlin and will offer other companies the opportunity to join as members.
Florian Seibel, CEO and founder of Quantum Systems, stated: “The future is unmanned. Through this alliance, we aim to create a strategic asset for Germany and Europe, one that bolsters our resilience and makes us a technological pioneer.”
Marc Wietfeld, CEO and founder of ARX Robotics, added: “Stronger Together. This is not only NATO’s motto, but it must also apply to our industry. With the UXS Alliance, we want to send a message that scalable and modular systems will be critical for the success of future missions.”
