AtkinsRéalis, an engineering services and nuclear company, announced it will acquire engineering and project management company WGA (Wallbridge Gilbert Aztec), which has a strong presence across Australian and New Zealand. The agreement brings together AtkinsRéalis’ global engineering capability with WGA’s established regional expertise to deliver complex, multi-year infrastructure programs across both countries.
Established more than 40 years ago and employing over 800 people, WGA has built a strong reputation for delivering infrastructure that supports the everyday needs of communities across Australia and New Zealand. Its teams bring deep local knowledge, long-standing client relationships and a hands-on, practical delivery approach. Together, AtkinsRéalis and WGA will expand the depth and breadth of technical expertise available to clients, enabling more integrated solutions across key markets like buildings and places, transportation, defence, resources and power and renewables.
“At a time when Australia is investing in the next generation of infrastructure, this agreement will help us collectively deliver projects and solutions that are connected, resilient and built for long-term performance at scale,” said Tom Hasker, CEO, Australia and New Zealand, AtkinsRéalis. “By combining WGA’s regional understanding with AtkinsRéalis specialist expertise and investment strength, we will be better positioned to support clients and partners on increasingly complex programs and help shape infrastructure that communities can rely on for generations.”
As demand grows for new and upgraded infrastructure across regional corridors, ports and marine environments, defence, energy, and civic and community assets, the relationship will focus on applying the right expertise where it will have the greatest impact. For more than 40 years, we’ve delivered practical, high-quality engineering solutions by being regionally embedded, backing our people, and building trusted, long term partnerships with our clients. said Ben Stapleton, Joint Managing Director of WGA.
The proposed transaction will be implemented by way of a scheme of arrangement under Part 5.1 of the Australian Corporations Act, subject to shareholder and court approval, customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
