BAE Systems Australia is to partner with Legacy Australia in a three-year agreement to support Australian Defence Force families. The company will become a Foundation Partner of Legacy Australia, supporting the Legacy Australia Grants Fund which helps the partners, children and widows of current and former serving personnel.

This partnership will focus on education and future employment for those in need and will also help Legacy Australia to raise $10 million dollars, to ensure that Legacy continues to provide support to the contemporary defence family.

BAE Systems employees will provide additional support to Legacy through site-based fundraising initiatives and events throughout the term of the partnership and they will be encouraged to use their paid volunteer leave to support their local Legacy club.

In addition to the grants funding, BAE Systems will also support The Legacy Centenary Torch Relay 2023, also announced today. Starting in France on Anzac Day 2023, travelling 55,000 km with 1,500 Torch bearers and stopping at more than 100 locations across Australia, the Legacy Centenary Torch Relay is a great opportunity to raise awareness of the work Legacy has done and will continue to do over the next 100 years.

BAE Systems Australia Chief Executive Officer Ben Hudson said: “As a previous serving member of the Australian Defence Force, I understand first-hand the sacrifices that our veterans make to protect our country. Behind every veteran is a family that often makes many sacrifices of their own and in some cases the ultimate sacrifice. BAE Systems is committed to making sure that the families of veterans are not left behind and that they are not left feeling isolated or alone. They deserve the chance to thrive despite all they have endured.”

Legacy Australia CEO Graham Boyd said: “Legacy Australia Inc is delighted to be working with BAE systems through a generous grant for educational, development and leadership programs for Legacy beneficiaries, as well as being a Foundation partner for the Legacy Torch Relay.”
