BlackBerry Limited recently unveiled new advanced features for BlackBerry SecuSUITE® for Government, the company’s secure voice and text communications software. SecuSUITE is used by over twenty governments today to protect them from electronic eavesdropping for unclassified through secret communications. The technology is backed by some of the most stringent security accreditations including from NATO’s Communications and Information Agency (NCI) and the United States National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP).
The new features, being made generally available by the end of the year, include:
- Secure browser and secure enterprise applications
- Encrypted video calling with recordkeeping compliance capabilities
- New messaging features, including the ability to retract messages and inter-application data sharing
- Enhanced group calls with audio mixing on each mobile device
- Enhanced administrative features, including group controls and one-click data wipes that are compliant with recordkeeping requirements
Furthermore, next year, quantum resistant cryptography for key exchanges will be added to BlackBerry SecuSUITE.
“We live in a world where government communications are at a growing risk of being intercepted and we must constantly adapt to an ever-evolving threat landscape,” said Christoph Erdmann, senior vice president Secusmart at BlackBerry. “We are always innovating so that our products meet and exceed the needs and standards of government entities, to do our part in protecting national security. These advances in BlackBerry SecuSUITE bring new security and user experience value to end users and administrators.”
“SecuSUITE is instrumental in our organisation’s move away from consumer-grade applications,” said Ludwig Seidl, CEO of ICSL. “BlackBerry knows what we need in a platform, often before even we do. Thanks to them, we have been able to secure new customers across a number of countries this year. SecuSUITE is a key differentiator for our customers,” said Adrian Silva, Globlue CEO. “Its many certifications and advanced cryptography capabilities give us and our customers peace of mind that their communications are secure.”
New Generative AI powered assistant
Blackberry also announced its new Generative AI powered assistant for Security Operations Center (SOC) teams. The enterprise-grade solution acts as a SOC Analyst providing Generative AI based cyberthreat analysis and support to enhance CISO operations. It leverages private large language models (LLMs) for greater accuracy and data privacy.
The solution, which will be available to BlackBerry’s Cylance® AI customers, predicts customer needs to proactively provide information rather than requiring users to manually ask questions and compresses research hours into seconds. Fully integrated in the Cylance Console, it produces a natural workflow instead of an inefficient chatbot experience. Cylance launched as the industry’s first AI cybersecurity solution and the industry’s first predictive cybersecurity solution. Predictive cybersecurity is a must for emerging cyber risks and seen as the future of cybersecurity.
“BlackBerry pioneered the AI cybersecurity market and our commitment to innovation means we are once again at the forefront of the industry as we unveil our Generative AI powered cybersecurity assistant,” said Nathan Jenniges, SVP & GM Spark, Cybersecurity Business Unit, BlackBerry. “This new solution will enable our customers to modernise their SOC operations helping them to stay a step ahead of the adversary. It will be invaluable to CISOs in overcoming the challenges they face, including an evolving threat landscape and resource constraints.”
BlackBerry’s Generative AI powered cybersecurity assistant will initially be made available to a select group of customers.
