Lithuania chooses Embraer’s C-390 Millennium to strengthen military readiness: The Ministry of National Defence of Lithuania has announced that the Embraer C-390 Millennium has been chosen as country’s next-generation military transport aircraft. This decision marks a significant step in enhancing Lithuania’s operational readiness and interoperability within NATO countries (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and paves the way for the acquisition process according to national legal procedures and legislation. “We have carefully studied the various types of military transport aircraft available on the market, and our assessment has clearly shown that the C-390 Millennium is the most suitable platform to meet our national military operational requirements. Therefore, Lithuania has chosen Embraer Company for further negotiations and expects to finalize the acquisition contract in the coming months,” said Loreta Maskaliovienė Vice Minister of National Defence of Lithuania. “We are honoured to have been selected by the Lithuanian authorities. This selection reflects Embraer’s commitment to strengthening defense capabilities in Europe. In this regard, the C-390, with its versatility, performance, and NATO interoperability, is the ideal platform — readily available to carry out the most demanding missions,” said Bosco Da Costa Junior, President & CEO of Embraer Defense & Security. The C-390 Millennium is a next generation aircraft designed to operate in austere environments and under demanding conditions, offering superior speed, payload capacity, and mission flexibility. Its selection aligns Lithuania with a growing number of European and NATO allies including Portugal, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, Czech Republic, Sweden and Slovakia who have also chosen the C-390 to modernize their air forces. By adopting the C-390 Millennium, Lithuania will significantly enhance its operational capabilities while benefiting from the ecosystem and synergies present in Europe in terms of support and training.
Netherlands advances C-390 capabilities with aeromedical system: Embraer and the Netherlands have signed a landmark contract to deliver a cutting-edge Aeromedical Evacuation System for the Royal Netherlands Air Force’s C-390 Millennium fleet. The contract, which comprises one firm order plus seven purchase orders, was signed by Vice Admiral Jan Willem Hartman (MSc), Commander of the Materiel and IT Command, and Bosco da Costa Junior, President & CEO of Embraer Defense & Security, during a ceremony at the Paris Air Show. At the heart of the aeromedical system is a roll-on/roll-off medical module – a self-contained, air-transportable unit that functions as a mini hospital. It supports the treatment and transport of patients, including those requiring full life support. Its design also allows for the transport of infected patients, protecting the medical staff and the crew. All components of the aeromedical system are fully compatible with the C-390’s Cargo Handling System (CHS) and can be rapidly installed through the aircraft’s rear ramp, ensuring seamless integration and deployment. This innovative system will significantly enhance the Netherlands’ ability to conduct humanitarian, disaster relief, and military medical operations. “This system will expand the operational capabilities of our C-390 Millennium fleet, transforming them into a modular airborne medical facility capable of delivering life-saving care both in the air and on the ground. With these new capabilities, we will be able to provide vital assistance when it is needed most,” said Vice Admiral Jan Willem Hartman, Commander of the Materiel and IT Command, Royal Netherlands Air Force.
Fokker Services Group receives design accreditation for C-390M: Fokker Services Group (FSG) has been accredited as a Military Design Organisation (MDOA) by the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands. FSG herewith will be enabled to perform aircraft engineering design activities and modifications on the Embraer C-390M multi role. Acting as a key partner and supplier to the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF), FSG will support the operational readiness and long-time sustainment of this important NATO asset. The Military Aviation Authority in the Netherlands provided the accreditation after an extensive audit declaring the company as eligible and approving its procedures as described in the Terms of Accreditation. FSG has a rich history in aircraft modifications and conversions, supporting several Air forces with maintenance, engineering and logistic support. Last year the company already announced the joint operation of a new hangar facility with the RNLAF in Woensdrecht (the Netherlands) and a partnership with Embraer Defense & Security for the delivery of C-390M aircraft including NATO modifications. Additionally, FSG completed a factory-new Gulfstream G550 Special Mission Aircraft program last year. “It’s an honour for us to assist the RNLAF with our dependable aircraft design expertise. We are uniquely positioned to make a significant contribution to the defence of European airspace by bringing our integrated capabilities in design, airworthiness, and maintenance to bear in service of the RNLAF and ultimately, in service of society at large” said Roland van Dijk, co-CEO of FSG. By supporting the Royal Netherlands Air Force in the long-term sustainment and operational readiness of its critical NATO platforms, FSG continues to build on its legacy of military aviation expertise. Each project increasingly sharpens the company’s capabilities, deepens its understanding of Air Force requirements, and reinforces a synergetic way of working that mirrors the operational mindset of its military partners. In doing so, FSG strengthens its position as the ally of choice for Air Forces and a trusted contributor to Europe’s defence ecosystem.
