Singapore-based EOS Defence Systems, a subsidiary of Electro Optic Systems (EOS), recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary. The company was established to support the sale and subsequent sustainment of its R600 remote weapon station (RWS) to the Singapore Army. This was the first dual-weapon station produced by EOS and is mounted on the ST Engineering Land Systems Terrex 8×8 Infantry Fighting Vehicle.
Winning the Singapore tender paved the way for a greater presence in the Asia Pacific market. In 2013 ST Kinetics and EOS set up a joint RWS maintenance and support facility. Inaugurated by the then Australian High Commissioner to Singapore, Hon Philip Green (pictured), the facility was one of the most advanced of its kind ever deployed in Asia.
EOS Singapore has grown from the original three employees in a joint facility to today having nine employees in their own facility. The office not only has responsibility for sustaining the EOS RWS in-service with the Singaporean Army, but is also now the hub for all EOS business development in the Asia Pacific.
Grant Sanderson, CEO for EOS Defence Systems said, “EOS is proud of the long and successful relationship it has with the Singaporean Armed Forces and Government. Being based in the region has enabled us to draw on the best of local talent to build our team and to extend our footprint across all of Asia.”
President for the Asia Pac region, Henry Heng, said of his time at the helm of the company since its start, “I have thoroughly enjoyed the past 10 years with EOS, and I am enthusiastic about the future about the company. EOS is a company that will create a solid legacy, and I am truly honoured to be part of that legacy. EOS Singapore would like to extend our deepest gratitude towards everyone who has helped us along the way during these 10 years and we look forward to many more exciting years ahead.”
