Fortinet announced the opening of its new company-owned Australian headquarters in North Sydney. This state-of-the-art facility is Fortinet’s first Innovation Hub in the Asia-Pacific region and reinforces its dedication to supporting local partners and customers, including those from government, defence, and critical infrastructure sectors, as well as the Five Eyes alliance.
With investment totalling over AU$75 million, the new Australian headquarters underscores Fortinet’s strategic commitment to the Australian market, where business has tripled over the past five years. The building reflects Fortinet’s focus on enhancing cybersecurity resilience and aligns with its mission to protect people and critical infrastructure globally. The facility joins Fortinet’s recent property investments in the United States of America, Canada, and Spain, further solidifying the organisation’s position as a trusted global leader.
The headquarters will host over 200 employees, with capacity to support workforce expansion as the company continues to grow its local footprint. Key features of the Innovation Hub include:
- Cutting-edge data centre: The building features a high-tech data centre offering in-region sovereign hosting services, secure access service edge (SASE) capabilities, and Level 3 security data classification. These capabilities underscore Fortinet’s commitment to strong cybersecurity standards to support Australian customer needs.
- Technical assistance centre (TAC): A second on-site data centre houses a TAC staffed with local experts to provide testing, simulations, and troubleshooting for customers. This gives businesses direct access to advanced cybersecurity support and tailored solutions.
- Sustainable focus: The facility is targeting a 4 Star Green Star rating, reflecting best practice standards in sustainable design and construction. Solar panels installed on the roof, combined with sourcing 100 per cent green energy for remaining energy needs, contribute to Fortinet’s goal of achieving 100 per cent renewable energy and reaching zero emissions for Scopes 1 and 2 by 2030. Additionally, the use of recycled furnishings sourced from non-Fortinet fit-outs and First Nations suppliers underscores Fortinet’s efforts to minimise environmental impact while promoting sustainable and inclusive practices.
In line with Fortinet’s commitment to addressing the global cybersecurity skills gap, its new Australian headquarters also enhances local training and workforce development efforts significantly via:
- Expanded training facilities: The building features a dedicated cyber training facility, offering the Fortinet Training Institute’s award-winning certification programs. This initiative supports Fortinet’s pledge to train one million people in cybersecurity by the end of 2026.
- Partnerships with local academic institutions: Fortinet collaborates with universities and vocational training centres across Australia to integrate cybersecurity education into curricula, equipping the next generation with the essential skills needed to secure critical infrastructure and counter cyber threats.
- Workforce upskilling initiatives: Through partnerships with governments and private organisations, Fortinet offers tailored training programs to reskill and upskill professionals, ensuring teams in both the public and private sectors are equipped to address evolving cyber threats. The new building’s expanded capacity means more individuals can participate in training programs each month. Notably, this includes initiatives like Fortinet’s partnership with the Department for Education in South Australia, which provides all staff in the state’s government schools with comprehensive security awareness and training.
