Kongsberg Defence Australia announced it has moved into a new temporary office in Newcastle as the company continues to expand its operations to deliver capability for the Australian Defence Force (ADF). This milestone marks another step in the company’s growth strategy for the Hunter region, supporting the construction of its new state-of-the-art missile manufacturing and maintenance factory at Newcastle Airport’s Astra Aerolab precinct near Williamtown. The factory will be Kongsberg’s first missile production facility outside of Norway.

Our new Newcastle office allows us to scale up our workforce, strengthen our local presence, and work more closely with suppliers and the community whilst we build the Kongsberg Missile Factory. KONGSBERG’s investment in the Hunter region reflects our long-term commitment to delivering a sovereign guided weapons capability in Australia. This new temporary office ensures we are ready as our operations continue to grow.”

Construction of the Kongsberg Missile Factory is due to be completed by the end of 2026, creating more than 100 jobs and supporting many more through its local supply chain.
