Project schedule is a key element in delivering capability to the ADF. Looking from the outside, sometimes milestones such as delivery dates, initial operational capability and so on can look somewhat arbitrary, but presumably Defence times things to coincide with older systems being retired, or new threats emerging. Having said that, major Australian programs often experience delays without this having a discernible effect on national security.
