Dr Foley served as Australia’s Chief Scientist from January 2021 to December 2024, following her tenure as Chief Scientist for the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) from August 2018. With a distinguished career in solid-state physics, superconductivity, and quantum applications, Dr Foley has made significant contributions to both scientific discovery and industry-driven innovation.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Dr Cathy Foley to the ARM Hub board,” said Professor Cori Stewart, CEO of ARM Hub. “She is both ambitious and strategic about how we can grow Australia’s industrial capability underpinned by scientific research and technology adoption. Her commitment to growing new and existing industries in Australia will advance ARM Hub’s mission to build the nation’s sovereign manufacturing capability.”

Dr Foley has played a pivotal role in advancing women in STEM and supporting professional scientific organisations. Her groundbreaking work in SQUID systems for geomagnetic exploration of minerals led to the commercialisation of LANDTEM technology, contributing to mineral discoveries valued at more than $6 billion. Her extensive experience in research translation, industry partnerships and policy development will be invaluable to ARM Hub as it continues to develop cutting-edge science and technology solutions that scale Australian businesses.

“As ARM Hub expands its impact in helping businesses integrate critical technologies like robotics and AI, having Dr Foley on the board will provide an unparalleled strategic advantage,” Dr Stewart added. “Her leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future of Australia’s science and technology-driven industries.”
