Nupress announced it has partnered with Kongsberg Defence Australia to support the manufacturing and supply of mechanical components for the Naval Strike Missile (NSM) capability being delivered under Project SEA 1300 Phase 1 – Navy Guided Weapons.
In 2022, Australia announced the selection of KONGSBERG’s NSM to replace the Harpoon Anti-Ship Missile capability on the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) ANZAC Class Frigates and HOBART Class Destroyers, enhancing the ADF’s ability to strike targets at extended range.
Established in 1972, Nupress Group has been supplying precision manufactured metal components in the Defence and Aerospace sector for over 20 years. Attaining AS9100 in 2016, Nupress has become a valued contributor to global supply chains in the defence industry.
Chief Executive Officer of Nupress Group, Craig McWilliam said “Kongsberg Defence Australia’s commitment to Australian Industry Capability (AIC) will further Australia’s sovereign capability and enable technology transfer. It will also grow the defence industry with employment opportunities for regional Australians in the Hunter, including Nupress. We would like to acknowledge all of our Australian supply chain partners for their efforts in supporting us for this opportunity and we look forward to delivering this significant contract.”
Manufacture of the mechanical components will commence shortly in the Nupress facility in Cardiff, New South Wales, with deliveries in early 2025.
