Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) has been selected to provide engine maintenance services for the Royal Thai Air Force’s (RTAF) fleet of PT6A-68-powered Beechcraft T-6TH Texan II trainer aircraft. The maintenance will be carried out through an Engine Services Agreement with Textron Aviation Defense and Thai Aviation Industries.
Pratt & Whitney Canada will provide dedicated support for the RTAF’s PT6A-68 engine fleet covering maintenance, repair and overhaul solutions to ensure maximum reliability and performance throughout each engine’s service life.
“The 1,250 SHP (shaft horsepower) PT6A-68 engine which powers the Texan II gives the aircraft jet-like performance, exceptional power response, and precision manoeuvrability making it ideal for pilot training,” said Scott McElvaine, vice president, Marketing & Business Development, Pratt & Whitney Canada. “The engine/aircraft combination has made the Texan II one of the most popular military trainers operating today, with more than 900 in service. With maintenance of its fleet of PT6A-68 engines entrusted to P&WC, RTAF pilots can fly the aircraft with confidence knowing the engines are in the care of the company that designed and built them.”
This collaboration underscores a strong commitment to enhancing local aerospace capability and ensuring long-term operational readiness of the RTAF’s advanced trainer fleet. The Royal Thai Air Force’s T-6TH aircraft represent the latest variant of the renowned Beechcraft T-6 Texan II trainer. This sustainment program marks a key milestone in deepening Thailand’s aerospace industrial base and fostering international cooperation in defence aviation.
