QinetiQ announces involvement in Operation Legacy Australia Kokoda Challenge

QinetiQ today announced their involvement in Operation Legacy Australia Kokoda Challenge 2017.

This August, QinetiQ Australia Managing Director Greg Barsby will lead a group of QinetiQ employees across the 96 kilometre Kokoda Trail to raise much needed awareness and funds for Legacy Australia.

Mr Barsby said: “As a member of the Australian defence industry, we are committed to giving back to service members and their families through corporate contributions, employee volunteer efforts and fundraising activities.”

“As well as being a corporate partner for this initiative, we have pulled together a team of dedicated employees from across the company to raise funds for Legacy Australia and take part in this worthwhile initiative.”

Legacy Australia Chairman Tony Ralph said it was pleasing to see defence industry get so hands on to support Legacy.

Mr Ralph said: “QinetiQ’s support and the funds raised by the team will greatly assist with Legacy Australia’s national youth developmental programs and help Legacy make a real difference to the lives of families who have suffered as a result of the service of a family member.”

Operation Legacy Australia Kokoda Challenge 2017 is a leadership challenge for Legacy youth and an opportunity for veterans to work through post deployment issues. The challenge will involve a group of around 26 Legacy youth, accompanied by 16 serving ADF veterans, walking the Kokoda Trail during Legacy Week 2017.

From 28 August to 7 September 2017 a team of 20 QinetiQ employees will trek Kokoda in conjunction with the Legacy Australia team.

As a corporate partner for the joint Legacy Australia and Defence initiative, QinetiQ has provided $20,000 to help fund the leadership challenge. In addition, the QinetiQ team have raised more than $50,000 for Legacy Australia through their community fundraising initiatives and have an ambitious target of $100,000 by August 2017.

Corporate supporters of the QinetiQ team include: HGB Consulting, Capital Airport Group, Shoal Group, Faircount Media and RSM.
