SA to host defence manufacturers

 

Major defence manufacturers from France, Japan and South Korea are visiting South Australia to inspect its naval shipbuilding sector.

The groups arrive this week, hot on the heels of Saturday’s launch of the navy’s first air warfare destroyer in Adelaide.

SA Defence Industries Minister Susan Close says the state has the chance to demonstrate its shipbuilding capabilities by hosting representatives from DCNS in France, a Japanese government and industry delegation and Korean Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine.

“We have credentials as a centre for excellence in naval shipbuilding and will be proudly spruiking our world-class infrastructure and industry base,” she said.
