https://mastconfex.comSerco has been awarded a five-year contract to provide programme management and business performance improvement support to the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). This contract covers four U.S. naval shipyards: Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Virginia, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Maine, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Washington state, and Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard in Hawaii. Support will also be provided at the Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Centre in Yokosuka, Japan.

Serco will deliver technical expertise in LEAN process innovation, programme management training, integrated product team and workforce development, on-site project execution coaching, and environmental, safety, and health program support.

Mark Irwin, Group Chief Executive of Serco, said: “Serco is a proud service partner with a long history of support for the U.S. Navy. I am delighted that this contract win will see us continue to support the Navy’s mission-critical programmes and bring to bear our deep sector expertise. This contract builds on Serco’s strong capabilities in defence, including programme management, technical expertise, operational support, health and safety programme support, and training and workforce development. Our capabilities right across the defence sector are supporting governments internationally and helping to impact a better future for our customers.”

In addition to the NAVSEA contract, Serco has won two contracts to support serving U.S. military personnel and veterans. Supporting the Department of Labor (DOL) Veterans’ Employment and Training Services (VETS) Transition Assistance Program (TAP), Serco will conduct employment readiness workshops, employment counselling, and employer outreach to support approximately 200,000 transitioning Service Members annually at over 250 U.S. military installations.

Serco will also ensure the continued provision of psychological health outreach support for the U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery. This programme supports military readiness for Reservists returning from deployments, providing a “safety-net” for psychological health and addressing long-term healthcare needs for Reservists and their families.

“Serco has a proud history of supporting the military in multiple countries internationally. We are able to deliver services throughout the entire course of an individual’s military life. From helping governments to recruit the right personnel, to providing them with training, development, and health support during their time in uniform through to providing services which facilitate people leaving the military and adjusting to civilian life,” Irwin said.
