BAE Q-Warrior Head-Up Display Bring Iron Man One Step Closer to Reality
Designed with the safety of soldiers in mind, BAE insists their device will eventually be worn by every solider on the field.
We’ve been hearing so much about the real-life Iron Man suit eventually being brought into action as of late – today brings yet another insight into the future of the military.
The work of BAE Systems based in the UK, the Q-Warrior head-up display is less a weapon and more a high-tech tool designed to keep soldiers safe. Already being put through its paces by the US Military, the gadget features a high-resolution 3D screen that delivers crucial information in real-time, including things like available assets and battlefield layouts.
Think of it as a far more advanced version of Google Glass designed with military combat in mind.
Along with delivering information on threats and warnings to those wearing the Q-Warrior, the screen will also improve night vision capabilities, map out paths of assault and monitor other military personnel across an extended area.
BAE states that the first wave of Q-Warrior devices will be used by those in command, though insist it’s only a matter of time until ever soldier on the field has such a device to help protect them.
“The biggest demand, in the short term at least, will be in roles where the early adoption of situational awareness technology offers a defined advantage,” said BAE’s Electronic Systems executive Paul Wright.
“The next level of adoption could be light role troops such as airborne forces or marines, where technical systems and aggression help to overcome their lighter equipment.”
