Land Forces 24 728x90 WEB 240202 01Quickstep Group announced a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to build sovereign aircraft Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) capability. Over the past two years, the company has been developing state-of-the-art facilities at Melbourne Airport and has taken delivery of an increasing number of military components in support of Royal Australian Air Force and Royal Australian Navy aircraft.

The company recently hosted Deanne Barnett recently as she inspected work undertaken by Quickstep on major components for the RAAF KC-30 aircraft. Barnett is the director Sustainment & Modernisation Services for Northrop Grumman Australia, and her team is responsible for supporting a number of RAAF aircraft, including the KC-30 (a derivative of the Airbus A330 passenger aircraft) which is used in refuelling, cargo and VIP transport roles.

“The establishment of this sovereign capability is vital, it means that components can now be repaired locally in a timely manner, avoiding long international freight delays and potential scrapping of items,” said Barnett, adding that “As Northrop Grumman’s relationship with Quickstep progresses, the breadth and depth of component repair and overhaul capability for the aircraft fleets we support in Australia will be expanded, further strengthening the domestic Aerospace Defence Industry.”

Northrop Grumman is Quickstep’s largest customer across the group.
