Future leaders welcomed at Henderson | ||||
BAE Systems Australia has welcomed seven new apprentices to its Henderson facility in Western Australia.
Over the next four years they will work on Australia’s ANZAC frigate fleet, commercial maritime vessels and a variety of energy and resources projects.
More than 200 people applied for the seven positions. The apprentices are aged from 17 to 34 and come from a range of backgrounds and experience.
The roles include apprenticeships in electrical and boiler making.
Upgrading and sustaining the ANZAC frigate fleet is central to the operations of BAE Systems’ Henderson facility. HMAS Arunta is the first ship to be docked as part of the $2 billion ANZAC Midlife Capability Assurance Program.
The upgrade program includes improvements to engines, propulsion, lighting, heating, cooling and communications, air surveillance radar replacement, torpedo self-defence, Nulka enhancements, and improved on-board training.
