APC Technology will showcase a new Generic Vehicle Architecture (GVA) smart display at Land FORCES 2021. Pre-production models will be displayed on the C4 EDGE stand (2T10) and the South Australia Defence State stand (3P15). The GVA smart display has been designed and manufactured by APC Technology in Adelaide, SA. The product is part of the company’s commitment to the C4 EDGE (Evolutionary Digital Ground Environment) program. APC will deliver three prototypes in June 2021 as part of the program.

C4 EDGE plans to deliver a proof-of-concept demonstration by the end of 2021 that shows the capability of Australian industry to further develop a protected, integrated and supportable sovereign system for land battlegroup and communication environments. The 10.4” smart display is an ultra-rugged smart display capable of hosting C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) application for tactical and combat vehicles. Designed to process data rich information in real-time, the unit has been engineered to share common CPU and I/Os and is built on a modular system to enable integration with a range of display sizes.

Scott Begbie, Managing Director of APC Technology commented on the development of the GVA smart display: “We have a proven track record in the supply of tactical displays within the defence sector. This experience has enabled us to design and manufacture a GVA display which aligns with the Commonwealth’s SICP plan for land combat and protected vehicles. We are the first Australian company who can supply a GVA smart display that is designed and built onshore. C4 EDGE is a defence industry cooperative of C4 subject matter experts leading a communications program scoping the demonstration of a sovereign land battlegroup and below communications environment for the Australian Army.”

Matthew Jones GM Land C4I of EOS Defence Systems, and lead of the C4 EDGE project said: “The C4 EDGE team is rapidly moving towards meeting our goal of a proof-of-concept by the end of this year. APC is an invaluable partner of our 20-strong team whose sole aim is to help build a better Australian C4 battlegroup and below solution for the Australian soldier.”
