Hanwha Bulletin APDR Leaderboard (1068 x 130) (C4I FINAL)Saab Australia has been nationally recognised as a Veteran Employer of Choice by the Australian Government Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA). As the top level of the DVA’s Veteran Employment Commitment, the Veteran Employer of Choice status acknowledges organisations that demonstrate excellence in providing meaningful career opportunities and support for defence veterans, reservists, and their families.

Saab Australia Managing Director and Royal Australian Navy veteran Andy Keough said the recognition reflects Saab’s deep commitment to empowering current and former serving military personnel. “We are proud to stand out as a company that supports veterans, their partners, and those who continue to serve in the Defence Reserves,” Keough said. “In sharing the common vision of keeping people and society safe, we understand the value they bring to the company through their experience, values, and knowledge.”

Veterans currently make up 14% of Saab’s workforce in Australia, with the company hiring almost 50 veterans, reservists and Australian Defence Force (ADF) partners in 2024 alone. Through its Veteran and ADF Partner Program, Saab offers tailored support and mentorship to ensure veterans gain the skills and pathways needed to thrive in their roles.

“As part of Saab’s core business objective to push boundaries and find innovative solutions to complex problems, we are committed to attracting and retaining a diverse and highly-skilled workforce in which veterans play a significant role,” Keough said. “Our goal is to not only recruit veterans, but to also provide them with a nurturing environment where they can excel, feel valued, and are empowered as they continue to contribute to defence and the company’s success.”

This recognition builds upon Saab’s success at the 2023 Prime Minister’s National Veteran Employment Awards, where it won Employer of the Year – Large, and 35+ year history in supporting the ADF through the provision of world-leading military capability.
